We ~Dig~ Gardening

Howdy! Welcome to a small project for my class Design and Engineering! In this class, we are studying how and why people design and engineer, these past few weeks focusing on gardening and empathy. We had our own experiences with gardening by conducting two experiments; We planted around 20 plants as a class without any tools except our hands and around 30 with tools. We had now first-hand experience with why we would use tools and why sometimes we wouldn't. We then studied how disabled people create workarounds to do everyday tasks since most products made today do not consider disabled people when in the design process. 

After we did all this research we were to interview a gardener or someone who knows about gardening, on the topic of tools. I chose to interview my mom since when she was younger she would garden on the ranch where she lived in Mexico. And though now she mostly plants tomatoes and peppers she remembers all of the difficulties and benefits of using certain tools back on the ranch. Without further ado here's the interview:
