An Act of Kindness
Hello and welcome to the second AP (Action Project) in my humanities class, Stories. In this unit, Lessons, we learned about making a good character, symbolism, proper grammar, fables, and lessons in writing. In the class, we have been reading many fables from different cultures and time periods. And, we went on an FE (Field Experience) to The Field Museum where we explored ancient civilizations and how they passed on lessons and stories.
For our second AP, we were told to make a fable of our own, choosing what moral/value/lesson we wanted to convey. I decided to write about kindness, which is a value I hold dear to my heart. I based the story on an event that actually happened to me, you can read more about that at the end of the fable bellow! I also used plenty of symbolism to subtly get my point across. Our protagonist is a frog named Farren; a frog is meant to symbolize rebirth, and luck, while the name Farren is meant to symbolize kindness and mercy. The main supporting character is an ermine named Eble; an ermine is meant to symbolize purity and strength, and the name Eble is meant to also symbolize kindness and mercy. Our antagonist is an old-fashioned turtle named Tanan; A turtle is meant to symbolize being traditional and old-fashioned, though Tanan's name doesn't have a symbolic meaning. There is more symbolism in the fable which I will explain in case you didn't catch onto it. Eble's nails symbolize Eble saying "this is me, and you can't do anything to stop me from being myself," which he sort of explains.
